Biochemical and histological effects of ethanolic extracts of fruits of Xylopia aethiopica and seeds and leaves of Piper guineense on liver and kidney function in male albino rats

Due to their wide use in nutrition traditional medicine, there is need examine the biochemical histological effects ethanolic extracts on liver kidney function male albino rats . test animals (groups 2, 3 4) received 100 mg/kg each corresponding extract for 21 days. Group 1 served normal control a placebo saline. were later fasted overnight, sacrificed blood collected through cardiac puncture indices. Results AST activity decreased significantly ( p < 0.0 5 ) group 2 compared control; ALP 0.05) 3; while ALT increased 4. concentrations urea potassium showed significant decrease 3. Creatinine 2. Concentrations total protein, albumin, globulin, sodium chlorides did not show any alteration.
